The Solar System comes to St Oswald’s Primary School
This term the Solar System came to St Oswald’s School! Looking like a huge, silver jelly mould, almost filling the school hall, the inflatable Planetarium had the children very excited even before they stepped inside. Once inside, every child, from the oldest to the youngest, experienced an incredible one hour journey through the Solar System, with amazing images and film projected onto the inside of the Planetarium’s curved ceiling and walls. The gasps of wonder came thick and fast as we visited, in turn, the moon, the sun and the planets, with their many moons. Our expert guide, from Polestar Planetarium, informed and entertained in equal measure. As each class came out of their session and back to Earth, they were buzzing from the experience and bursting with enthusiasm for follow up work back in the classroom. It was a wonderful opportunity to learn about and celebrate God’s glorious creation.

2017 started well for Hawksworth School.
Three of the staff had entered the school into a ’12 Days of Christmas’ competition being run by webanywhere which is the school’s website design company. The competition involved the children taking part in a range of Christmas activities and being photographed participating in each activity. The photographs were then tweeted each day during the 12 day period on the school’s twitter feed and the best school entry (out of many, many schools) for that day would receive IT apps for their website and the overall winner of the competition would receive an ipad for the school.
Hawksworth won 6 apps …….and the ipad!!
Well done to the children involved – and the staff who organised the activities, took the photographs and uploaded the tweets.
Hawksworth’s Christmas Service was held at St Paul’s Church Esholt. Photos and a video of this are available to view on the school website: . www.hawksworthceprimary.org – along with other news and photos of daily life at the school.
